Really good and useful for learning to drawing females.

I have purchased this title from a 3rd party vendor. The transit time between the order date and the date of delivery was almost 2 weeks, under standard ground shipping. It is very slightly used, but for all intensive purpose, it is as good as new. Many reviewers have already pointed out that this is not a beginner's material. Yes, they are correct. I would also add that, if you want to learn how to draw human figures, study figure drawing first. Build up the foundation first before delving into manga. A good low-cost book for this purpose would be something like DRAWING HEAD & FIGURE by Jack Hamm. However, be aware that no amount of books can be a substitute or learning how to draw from live models. Now, I have two books by Hikaru Hayashi: HOW TO DRAW MANGA: FEMALE CHARACTERS and HOW TO DRAW MANGA: MORE ABOUT PRETTY GALS. If you like Hayashi's instruction books, then I recommend studying HTDM: FEMALE CHARACTERS before MORE ABOUT PRETTY GALS. The former covers anatomy, including eyes and lips; the latter focuses on clothing. If your budget can only afford one book, then choose the former.

How To Draw Female Characters or Techniques for Drawing Female Manga Characters is the same book. This is an awesome book on how to approach the female form for drawing. The information presented is very detailed and covers many tips to achieve some aspects of realism. It does not approach the topic from an anatomical viewpoint in the sense of a detailed skeleton and muscles but rather from a simplistic view of the overall form in various positions and articles of clothing. The drawings are also simple but yet done very well to show you the points the book desires to teach you.Although some may find the drawings to be risqué or a purposeful attempt to be sexually explicit, I do not subscribe to such nonsense. It is simply a book of knowledge and it imparts that knowledge to those who desire to learn regardless of who you are.Buy this book if you desire to expand your drawing skills because it provides you information that improves your female form drawing skills. Here is a table of contents to assist those to get idea of the book's content:Chapter 1Drawing the Female Figure: The Basic RulesThe Three Basic Rules for Drawing the Female FigureThe Human BodyCharacteristics of the Female FigureSeeing the Body as a Wire Frame and with Contour and ShadowDifferentiating Body TypesSome Tips for Differentiating the Three Physical TypesDifferences in Figure According to AgeDifference in Face According to AgeQ&AChapter 2Drawing the Female Figure: The Parts of the BodyTrue to Life vs. MangaWhat to Exaggerate and What to SimplyThe BreastsEffects You Can Achieve With the BreastsBust Line Fashion StatementsThe ButtocksDifferent View of the ButtocksThe Contour of the ButtocksEffects You Can Achieve with the ButtocksThe CrotchUsing Curved Lines to Show Dimension in the CrotchThe Lower Body in ActionThe Relation Between the Buttocks, Crotch and LegsThe LegsThe Neck - Connecting the Head to the BodyThe Bent Back - When You Can't Draw a Tapered WaistThe Effect of Underwear and Bathing Suits on the Female FigureWater Droplets and Beads of SweatWire Frames - Getting Grasp of the Body's CurvesUsing Wire FramesQ&AChapter 3Drawing the Female Figure: Using Detail for EffectDifferent Types of NailsEyes, Eyelids and EyelashesThe Mouth and LipsEffects You Can Achieve With Black and ShadingThe Ears and EarringsThe HairColoring the HairA Catalogue of UndergarmentsQ&AThe Female Figure Goes to School1) Getting Dressed: The Blouse2) Getting Dressed: Shoes and Socks3) Getting Dressed: In Front of the Mirror4) Running Down the Hallway5) Sitting on a Chair6) On the Playground at Noon: In Uniform7) In the Locker Room8) Dressed for Gym Class9) More Tips for Drawing Gym Clothes10) Regulation Bathing Suits11) Riding a Bicycle12) On the way Home: Walking OutdoorsChapter 4Learn from the ProsGirl in Middy Uniform (Masaru Kaku)Beauty with Bouquet (Jun Matsubara)Alluring Adult (Yasuo Matsumoto)Dream Fantasy (Morio Harada)Girl Athlete (Bancho Hoshino)Sexy Babe (Ganma Suzuki)Humorous Illustration (Shoko Ando)Coquettish Maiden (Yu Manabe)Glamorous Beauty (Noriyoshi Inoue)

I really loves this because it give me the imagery I lack. I'm not good at imagining and creating different body movement and combinations. This book has it for me.I will also attach a drawing I did while using this book

First of all, let me start by saying that after seeing this book for myself, I strongly disagree with what other reviews have said about it. Anyone who would label this book as hentai, has never actually seen hentai. This book is simply very descriptive about how to draw the female figure in the traditional style of Japanese Manga. This book shows you how to draw the female figure perfectly, and in order to do that, you need to learn how to draw a female nude first before learning about drapery and how to best draw them in a clothed form by making the clothes fit to the body's contours. This is pretty basic stuff for any art student, or hell, anybody who's attended an art class, so I'm guessing the people who called this hentai were either children, or just easily offended by the sight of a nude woman. That said, the book did go a bit further into detail on how to draw a woman's crotch than I felt was necessary, but it's not as bad as other reviewers are making it sound. It doesn't actually show you how to draw female sexual organs or anything like that, nothing truly obscene, it just has a rather large section on how to shade the area and how to make panties sit just right, which I didn't feel was entirely necessary. There are a few depictions of women in rather provocative positions as well, but it's nothing that should prevent you from buying the book. All in all, this is a good reference book on how to draw female characters.I found the sections on eyes and hair very helpful, and I feel that the artists lack of shyness towards teaching readers how to draw the female figure in such detail makes this book more helpful than some others that are too bashful about it.When you get right down to it, it's just art... The writer didn't make this book for guys to oogle at, he made it to teach others how to draw the female figure well, and did an excellent job of it.If you're shy about drawing the female figure or simply too young to understand art, then this book is not for you.Another excellent book on how to draw female manga characters is "How To Draw Manga Volume 22: Bishoujo Around The World" it teaches you a lot about how to draw women from a wide-range of different nationalities.

Alexander The Great: A Gayish BiographyBy William Arnett PhD.

“Alexander was only defeated once…and that was by Hephaestion’s thighs.”

-- Cynic Philosophers, about 2,000 years ago

In this hilarious and meticulously researched biography, Humanities professor and sometime standup comic Dr. Will Arnett reveals the truth about Alexander: The greatest military hero of all time was also the biggest drama queen who ever lived.

He’s Here, He’s Queer And He Doesn’t Like Your End Tables.
From Hephastion, his boyfriend of 19 years to Bagoas, his shatteringly beautiful Persian boy toy, Alexander The Great ruled as a king but lived as a queen. He conquered most of the known world, unified it with a common language, imbued it with religious tolerance, and enriched it with racial diversity. He founded close to 70 cities across Turkey, Asia, Central Europe and the Middle East.

Yet he cried easily. He threatened suicide if he didn’t get his way. He talked in exclamation marks! He loved to wear outrageous clothes. Everything was an emergency. He could throw hissy fits that would take Liza Minelli’s breath away. And he was so vain his own officers rubbed Preparation H on his ego. It’s the interplay between his personal fabulousness and his public greatness that makes Alexander the Great one of the most exhilarating characters in world history.

And so ripe for comedy.

As over-the-top as Alexander could be, he was no Liberace in fatigues. If you’re thinking Sean Hayes in Will & Grace leading 40,000 men across the desert, think again. If you’re thinking Bruce Vilanch in hand-to-hand combat you’re deluded. If you’re thinking Michael Musto slitting his enemy’s throats with a nail file, stop thinking--please, you’re giving us a headache.

Instead, think Patton taking bubble baths, or McArthur in moo-moos, or Schwarzkopf with fag hags. If you locked Alexander in a room with these generals and threw in a knife, only Alexander would walk out without needing medical attention. And he’d walk out like Evita too: On the terrace, arms out-stretched, greeting the adoring crowds below.

A Snippet From The Book:
Alexander liked to shave his face. This shocked his countrymen, who almost to a man sported beards. Remember, the last of Cromagnon man had croaked, like, three weeks earlier. If the Greeks had been born just a few generations sooner they wouldn’t have been able to walk upright without dragging their knuckles across the ground.

Alexander rationalized his shaving as a combat advantage. If the enemy couldn’t grab you by the beard he’d have a harder time killing you. Historians have waved their bullshit detector over that one and can’t decide if they believe him. Let’s just say there’s a whole school of thought that says Alexander didn’t like hair on his face for the same reason Narcissus didn’t like ripples in the water—it got in the way of the view.

Upon seeing him fresh-shaven, lots of people raised their eyebrows, but nobody raised a stink. You just didn’t do that to the guy who kicked the world’s ass. In fact, Alexander started a craze and soon everyone was going bare faced. Philip, Alexander’s father, must have been spinning in his grave, seeing the army’s energy wasted on something as girlie as shaving. “Christ! What are we running, a spa?!” he would have bellowed. “What’s next, botox and chemical peels?!” Luckily, Christ hadn’t been born yet, so Philip hadn’t technically taken the Lord’s name in vain.

Dr. Arnett takes us on a wild, comedic ride through Alexander’s life—from his early childhood (Aristotle was one of his teachers) to his famous battles, to his 19-year relationship with his boyfriend Hephastion to his ultimate death. Get ready to meet Alexander the Fabulous--the man who went down on history and came up smiling.
